You hire us. You work with us.

Remodeling is personal. You’re inviting people into your home, making a significant investment, and trusting them with a place that matters to you.

That’s why Rick Kelley Builders has always been built around direct involvement. When you hire us, the people you meet at the beginning are the people who stay involved throughout the project. You’re not handed off to an unfamiliar project manager once the contract is signed.

We spend time understanding how you live, what isn’t working, and what you want the house to become. Then we work through the details with you—design, scope, construction, decisions, surprises and all the little things that inevitably come with remodeling.

What clients notice

Good craftsmanship matters

So do communication, clean jobsites, reliable subcontractors and knowing that someone is paying attention. Our clients appreciate knowing what is happening, having questions answered and seeing problems handled instead of passed along.

Built on relationships

Some of our best clients have hired us more than once. Some have called years later with a question. Others have referred friends, neighbors and family. We don’t take that lightly.

More than a better house

A successful remodeling project should leave you with more than a better house. It should leave you feeling good about the people who helped you get there.

Rick Kelley — Founder

Rick founded Rick Kelley Builders in 1980 after spending the 1970s working as a superintendent for a custom home builder, learning the business from the ground up. More than four decades later, he still loves the things that drew him to building in the first place: working with his hands, solving problems and creating something that will last.

When he isn’t building, Rick is usually building something anyway. He loves woodworking and furniture making, along with classic cars and motorcycles. He also enjoys traveling in his RV with his cat, Eve. But anyone who knows Rick will tell you that what really sets him apart has very little to do with construction. He’s one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, genuinely enjoys people, and has quite literally never met a stranger.

That combination of craftsmanship, curiosity and treating people well has shaped Rick Kelley Builders from the very beginning—and it still does today.

Jeremy Kelley, CKBR — Partner

Jeremy joined Rick Kelley Builders 25 years ago and today works with clients from the earliest ideas through the completion of their projects. He handles much of the company’s design work, client meetings and project management—which means he’s usually involved long before the first hammer swings and stays involved until the last detail is finished.

He loves design in just about every form and genuinely enjoys the process of figuring out how a house can work better for the people who live in it. He’s also the writer behind most of the RKB blog, where he gets to combine two things he enjoys: writing and sharing some of what 25 years in the remodeling business has taught him.

Outside of work, Jeremy is a licensed USRowing referee, a self-described volunteer addict, and rarely seems to have much interest in sitting still. He enjoys motorcycles, exercising, reading, spending time with his family and designing things—whether they need to be designed or not.

After 25 years working alongside his dad, Jeremy still believes the best part of the business is pretty simple: getting to know people, solving problems and leaving them with a home that works better than it did before.

Who we are

Over the years Karen and I have used Rick and, more recently, Jeremy on many projects at our home. They have always been conscientious about their work, fair with their pricing, and meticulous as to the results. The added bonus is that they are truly good people! We are repeat customers for the simple reason that we have always been satisfied with the results.
